Summer 2023 is coming to an end and before it wraps up I wanted to write a list of my top 5 favorite sunscreens for summer music festivals. I used these products at all my music festivals attended including EDCLV, Bonnaroo, Electric Forest, and Elements. I can happily say I haven't gotten sunburn at all this season. In addition to wearing SPF products I always wear a hat and sunglasses to protect my face. I also spend time in shade as much as possible during the day. This helps prevent burnout especially for those who do back-to-back (b2b) festivals like I do with Bonnaroo and Electric Forest.
Festival tip:
Spending too much time in the sun at Bonnaroo = too exhausted for Electric Forest. Try and minimize your time in sun at the first fest if you are doing both fests or any two festivals in back-to-back weekends.
The sun wipes you out badly. Make sure to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and then resting your body. Music festivals are similar to a sport in a sense where you do need endurance! Pace yourself.
#5 Supergoop! City Sunscreen Serum SPF 30
Lightweight and great for under make-up. Does have a more SPF feeling and smell to it compared to the coola face products I listed. I do like the coverage consistency and how lightweight it is for a face SPF.
Retail : $44
#4 Coola Classic Face Organic Sunscreen Mist SPF 50
This was a product I surprisingly ended up liking. I reapplied only once per day while at Bonnaroo and never got burned. I will say I was smart with staying in any shade I could as long as possible, sunglasses, and a large brimmed sunhat. My face never felt oily or greasy. The product does have a strong smell and it did explode in my tent at Bonnaroo due to extreme heat. There was sunscreen in the tent pocket, but I cleaned it up and still been using what I have left of the product. The user application is not so much a mist as it is a manual pump spray. I did like using this when I didn't want to touch my hands to my face. I just shook well and sprayed appropriately.

#3 Coola Dew Good Illuminating Serum Sunscreen with Probiotic Technology SPF 30
I love how non-sticky, non-greasy, and very little dew this provided like a 2 out of 5 dewiness. It was nicely balanced and I wore this during Electric Forest by itself during the day when I volunteered. I gave me a fresh and awakened look without having to wear any make-up.
Retail : $48
#2 Supergoop! Glow Oil SPF 50
I love how non-oily the product is and absorbs nicely into the skin keeping it hydrated. The packaging is nice with the large yellow pump, but after using the product a bit with your hands to apply to the body it can be difficult to spray again. This body SPF is a manual pump great for festivals that don't allow aerosols. I like the subtle glow it gave and nice tan it helped build over time.
Retail : $38
#1 Coola Rōsilliance® Tinted Moisturizer Organic Sunscreen SPF 30
This tinted moisturizer sunscreen has a 4 out of 5 dewiness look to it on my scale. It only comes in 3 shades and I had the lightest- Fresh Rose. The color doesn't match well like a foundation, but that's the point of it not being a foundation. When first applied it can look oddly colored, but after it settles into the skin it shifts into that dew and light-tinted coverage. Next bottle I get I will try the medium shade instead of the lightest just to see a color comparison.
I have this as my #1 because I prefer this SPF for music festival days I wish I could wear make-up but I can't because it's either too hot or I know I'm going to a pool. This pairs perfectly with a colored eyeliner and a light pressed powder. I'll share a tutorial in the future of easy && natural make-up ideas.
